Christmas, charity and community are synonymous with our local St Albans pubs and this time of year, more than ever, our pubs play a key role in helping people to celebrate, fundraise and combat isolation and loneliness.
Many of our city pubs are adopting a local not for profit, community group or charity for Christmas as part of the Save St Albans Pubs ‘Very Local Charity Christmas’. There will be events and activities including quiz nights and Santa Paws to help raise funds and awareness for their chosen group.
That’s just for starters, there’s a whole lot of Christmas going on in the city, thanks to several local independent pubs. Keep an eye on enjoystalbans.com for listings of exciting Christmas events including appearances In the city centre by The New Fighting Elves, Carols ‘til Closing and more!
So put on your best Christmas sweater and join St Albans pubs this Christmas, as we celebrate what makes St Albans such an amazing city to visit and live, our community!
Save St Albans Pubs has been fighting for reform of the business rate system since 2017. Three of St Albans local pubs shut their doors in 2019, largely due to the impact of business rates, high rents and the economic
slowdown. More will follow unless the government takes urgent action.
